We measure the rig, not the drawing
Aboard, with the rig tensioned, and where it matters under way. A twenty-year-old boat has been tuned, re-stepped and sometimes shortened, and the sail plan on file is fiction.
Sail loft and rigging shop · Lymington, measuring anywhere in northern Europe
Two lofts quote the same boat and the same cloth and hand you sails that behave completely differently, because one measured the rig under load and the other took the numbers off a table. That measurement is most of what you are paying for.

How we work
Aboard, with the rig tensioned, and where it matters under way. A twenty-year-old boat has been tuned, re-stepped and sometimes shortened, and the sail plan on file is fiction.
A laminate that is quicker for two seasons and delaminates in the third is a bad buy for someone crossing oceans and a good one for someone racing. We ask which you are before quoting.
A sail that is too full and a forestay that sags are the same problem seen from two trades, and two suppliers will each blame the other. Here it is one conversation.
Once it is up, from ahead and from below, and compare it to the design shape. Occasionally that means recutting a sail we have just been paid for, which is exactly when it needs doing.
“The last loft quoted off the sailplan and the main was a foot short on the hoist. These came down for a morning, measured the rig with the boat in the water, and photographed the new one flying in October. It sets better than the original did.”
